Katherine Doty Fulton, 72, was raised in Greenville and lived most of her adult life on a cotton farm in Issaquena County. She was affectionately known by many names: “Baby” by her siblings; “Sugar Babe” by her husband; and “Mama,” “Mawmaw,” “Aunt Kat” and even “Meemaw Catfish.” She made the best biscuits in the South and was a friend to all. She passed from the world to join her loved ones in heaven on Wednesday, April 21, 2010.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Houston D. Doty and Katherine Lucille Thompson Doty.
She is survived by her husband, Gene T. Fulton; brother, Hugh Doty (wife Martha) of Lake Village, Ark.; sister, Doris Lancaster (husband Sonny) of Bella Vista, Ark.; children, Ken Fulton (Wanda) of Greenville, Kel Fulton (Bonnie) of Rolling Fork, Sandra Fulton Potts (Jerry) of Zachary, La., Dennis Fulton (Linda) of Zachary, La., and Rhonda Fulton Boiger (Jack) of Leesville, La.; 11 grandchildren, Kaysha, Keith, Zachary, Hunter, Eric, Gabriel, Melissa, Brad, Christopher, Paula and Joshua; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lake Washington First Baptist Church, Glen Allan, with the Rev. Jimmy McClendon officiating and with the Rev. Jerry Potts (son-in-law) and Sister Elizabeth Franklin participating. Burial will follow at County Line Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork and from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service Saturday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Al Creel, Donnie “Scooter” Stokes, Charles David Shields, Richard Manning, Burt McPhail and Timothy Howie.
Honorary pallbearers include nephews Lenny, Gary, Bernard Lee, Roy Dale, Dan, Jody, Roy Louis, Jimmy, Joey and Lee Fulton; Mike Jarvis, Grant Lancaster, David Lancaster, Tommy Gardner and Al Warbington.
The family appreciates the loving care rendered to Katherine at Sharkey-Issaquena Community Hospital.
