Water shoots into the air Monday as city water employee Perry Franklin uses equipment to clear dirt and asphalt from a 16-inch service line on Washington Street. The line, an older one, was cut and capped. The line is just south of a city water main on Washington that was put in jeopardy March 26 by shifting soil. The main has since been stabilized, and Monday’s line break was unrelated, said Tyrone Moore of the water department.
