Harriet Brice Sims

Harriet Brice Sims of Vicksburg died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at her son’s home in West Monroe, La. She was 81.

Mrs. Sims was born in Delhi, La., the daughter of Bruce P. Brice and Mary Pennebaker Brice. She grew up in Mississippi, moving to Vicksburg where her husband was employed and raising their two children here.

She was employed by The Vicksburg Post initially as switchboard operator and was continuously promoted, retiring as administration manager.

She was a member of Hawkins United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eulle M. “Buddy” Sims; and her daughter, Cheryl Sims.

She is survived by her son, Russell “Rusty” Sims and his wife, Cheryl, of West Monroe; three grandchildren, Kelli, John and Mollie Sims of West Monroe; a brother, Fred Brice and his wife, Sally, of Springfield, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be this evening from 5 until 7 at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Bill Stanford, Keith Renfroe, Lane Mason, A.J. “Buddy” Holliday, Charles Ainsworth, Pat Cashman, Charlie Mitchell and Roy Boone.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Herrington and members of the Hawkins United Methodist Church Crusaders Sunday School Class.
