Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood holds the hose from a Culkin Volunteer Fire Department truck to help fill the swimming pool that will be retired police officer Doug Arp’s home until Monday. Arp, who has chosen a different way to draw attention to National Night Out Against Crime for 14 years, moved into the pool at the fire station Monday. In years past, he has lived for a week on a billboard, in a fountain, in a trash receptacle, in an elevated patrol car, in a phone booth and underground.
