Gene Ferguson

Gene Ferguson died Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at River Region Medical Center. He was 73.
Mr. Ferguson was a member of the Carpenters Local No. 303 Union. He taught carpentry at Hinds Community College and coached youth football and baseball some years ago. His family and his faithful companion, Luci, were the loves of his life. He enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude E. and Beverly Murphy Ferguson; two brothers, Claude Ferguson Jr. and Charles Ray Ferguson; and three sisters, Ruth F. Hoben, Dorothy F. Harrell and his twin sister, Joan F. Redditt.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ferguson of Vicksburg; his son, David Gene (Deanna) Ferguson of Vicksburg; two daughters, Jeannie (Jimmy) Melton of Vicksburg and Mollie (Dusty) Rhodes of Arkansas; two brothers, Bobby (Elaine) Ferguson and Jimmy (Kathy) Ferguson, both of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Wiles, Chris Melton, Jeremy Ferguson, Cody Ferguson, Chelsey Ferguson, Caitlyn Ferguson, Maggie Rhodes and Sarah Rhodes; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher Eric Melton and Mari Kynlea Ferguson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with Brother Dusty Rhodes and Brother Billy Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeremy Ferguson, Cody Ferguson and Chris Melton. Others include Monte Redditt, Mike Hoben, Jauro Machadd, Jerry Davidson, Greg Mitchell and Shannon Gilmore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ike Barnes and members of the Carpenters Local 303, Carl Pettway, Dr. Hildon Sessums, Bill Dulaney, Harry Pittman and James Burnett.
