City man grabbed after 1-mile chase through Vicksburg

A Vicksburg man was arrested and charged with felony eluding Monday after leading police on a mile-long chase through the city, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Jason Ferguson, 29, 1520 Ethel St., was in the Warren County Jail this morning awaiting an initial court appearance, jail records said.

Police began pursuing Ferguson shortly before 4 p.m. Monday after he ran a stop sign and nearly struck another vehicle while turning the 2000 Mercury Marquis he was driving south onto Cherry Street from Holly Street, Stewart said.

He said Ferguson drove south on Cherry, west on Arthur, south on Drummond, west on Bowmar Avenue and south onto Letitia before running the Marquis into bushes near the corner of Avenue C and Arcadia. He was captured near 2925 Highland Ave., after getting out of the car and fleeing, Stewart said.
