DECATUR — A week after winning a game on the final play, Hinds Community College lost one that way.
East Central Community College kicked a 41-yard field goal as time expired Saturday, giving it a 37-35 victory over Hinds (3-2, 0-2 MACJC South). It was the first win of the season for East Central (1-4, 1-1), and the second consecutive thrilling finish for Hinds. Last Thursday, it beat Mississippi Delta in overtime.
Matthew Willis rushed for 118 yards and three TDs for Hinds, which rallied from a 19-point deficit to take the lead with a minute to play. Former Warren Central standout Cordell Valentine caught a 46-yard TD pass.
