Addie Mae Holloway

VALLEY PARK — Addie Mae Holloway died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010 at Promise Hospital in Vicksburg. She was 87.
Born in Jefferson Davis County, she was an active member of the Valley Park Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, GA leader, church clerk and held a perfect attendance record of 59 years in Sunday school. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, Farm Bureau and served on the Sharkey County Baptist Association Board. She loved God and was a dedicated member of her church. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. She loved working in her yard and sharing the bounty of her garden with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoy L. McPhail Sr. and Belva Dykes McPhail; four brothers, Hoy McPhail Jr., Robert Welman McPhail, Herbert McPhail and Herman McPhai; and three sisters, Letha Byrd, Gracie Shive and Nettie Wixon.
Survivors include, three daughters, Pat Rutledge and husband, Joe, of Fulton, Miss., and Fay Shiers and husband, Hilbert, and Sarah Strahan and husband, Bill, both of Vicksburg; a son, Hugh Holloway and wife Tara of Valley Park; two sisters, Lucille Bodie and Janell Holloway, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Charles Ray McPhail of Rolling Fork and Hubert McPhail of Mendenhall; seven grandchildren, Ronny Wooley, Alison Brown, Donna Reine Doug Holloway, Greg Holloway, Brian Holloway and Elizabeth Holloway and eight great-grandchildren, Amanda Shiers, Rutger Wagner, William Brown, Zachary Reine, Hannah Holloway, Michael Brown, Kaden Holloway and Ryan Holloway.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Valley Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Purser, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at County Line Cemetery in Glen Allan, Miss. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.
Memorials are requested to be made to the Valley Park Baptist Church Parking Lot Fund, PO Box 377, Valley Park, MS 39177.
Active pallbearers will be Joe Rutledge, Hilbert Shiers, Bill Strahan, Doug Holloway, Greg Holloway, Brian Holloway, Hubert McPhail, Ron Wooley and Jerry Bodie.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Ray McPhail, Bob Wixon and deacons of Valley Park Baptist Church.
Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg has charge of arrangements.
