EDWARDS — Adell Smith died Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at Heritage Manor in Rolling Fork. She was 75.

Ms. Smith was born in Edwards. She was a graduate of Jarvis Christian College with a degree in biology and science and furthered her studies at Jackson State University. She taught school in Edwards, Bolton, Campbell College and Raymond.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt Sr. and Versie Mae Smith; three brothers, Roosevelt Smith Jr., Marcellus Smith and Alphonzo Smith; and four sisters, Lucille Johnson, Lydan Range, Helen Turner and Rosetta Jernigan.

Survivors include her brother, Allen Elm Mott of Texas; five sisters, Lillian Ducker of Westbury, N.Y., Gala D. Starling of Yazoo City, Nettie Smith of Dallas, Elinder Martin of Edwards and Loretta Peoples of Indianapolis; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Roland Porter officiating. Friends and family hour will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the funeral home.
