WC, Vicksburg KO Crystal Springs

Crystal Springs’ struggling soccer program provided an easy warm-up for Warren County’s teams on Saturday.

Erik Chappell and Ahstin Greer scored two goals apiece, and Hunter Rowland added another as Warren Central’s boys opened the season with a 5-0 victory over the visiting Tigers.

Jamal Brinnon earned the shutout in goal, but only faced one shot thanks to a stifling defense let by Matt Waddle and Jade Pollock.

Crystal Springs didn’t fare any better in the second half of a doubleheader against Vicksburg. Kyle Davidson had two goals and an assist, Jordan Watson had one goal and one assist, and the Gators rolled to a 5-0 victory.

Chucky Hayden also contributed a goal and an assist for VHS, while Tylar Jackson had one goal and Chris Green had one assist.

WC and Vicksburg’s girls’ teams also swept Crystal Springs.

Warren Central won 6-0 behind two goals from Lindsey Barfield and a goal and an assist by Mallory Reynolds. Chelsea Duett, Cami Keller and Jessie May each added a goal. Noel Butler had two assists.

Vicksburg beat Crystal Springs 7-0 as Maya Thomas and Tabitha Hayden scored two goals apiece.Amy Dixon had two assists.

The Missy Gators did not allow a shot on goal.
