Donald M. Cross

Donald M. Cross of Vicksburg died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 75.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home Chapel in Vicksburg. Burial will be at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 tonight and at 11 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of the service.
Mr. Cross was born Aug. 14, 1935, in Meridian. He graduated from Meridian High, attended EMJC at Meridian and then Mississippi College, graduating with a degree in mathematics. He moved to Vicksburg in 1957 and was employed by LeTourneau Inc. as a draftsman in the engineering department. He was drafted by the U.S. Army, serving two years in Korea.
Returning to LeTourneau Inc., he was promoted to head of engineering, then to vice president and manger of the marine department and finally to general manager and vice president of the company in Vicksburg. He retired after 49 years of wonderful and enjoyable service.
Mr. Cross was also involved in many civic organizations, such as the Chamber of Commerce, EDF, Business Alliance and Airport Board, and he served 14 years in the Mississippi Legislature.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Abernathy Cross; son, Joey Cross; daughter, Julianne McIntyre (Randy); brothers, Billy Joe Cross (Robbie) and Terry Cross; sisters, Doris Cross, Frances Scitz (Bobby), Sharon Gibson (Richard) and Karla Graham (Charles); and grandchildren, Ashley Zelasko (John), Laci Burkes and Brandon Gibson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Joe Cross; and his mother, Eula Todd Cross Meyer.
Pallbearers will be Allen Pugh, David Pugh, Lane Smith, Lakey Wilder, Eric Holloway and Wayne Padgett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Pilgrim, Ron Boben, Dr. Dan Edney, Dr. V.N. Shenoy and members of Encouragers/Word Sunday school class.
