An inmate escaped from the Issaquena County Jail early this morning, a spokesman from the Mississippi Department of Corrections said.

Terence L. Griffin, 22, no address available, escaped from the jail around midnight while serving a 15-year sentence for an armed robbery in Hinds County in December 2007.

Adam Lee of MDOC’s communications office declined to release details on how Griffin escaped.

Griffin, who is black, 5-foot-10 and weighs 170 pounds, was last seen wearing MDOC black-and-white striped pants and a white shirt with MDOC Convict printed on the back, Lee said.

The Issaquena jail is used by surrounding counties and cities, including Warren County and Vicksburg, to house overflow prisoners from other facilities.
