Clara Annie Smith Johnson

ANGUILLA — Clara Annie Smith Johnson, 87, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011. She had been a resident of the Copiah Living Center in Crystal Springs for the past year. She was born and raised in Anguilla and spent her life as a homemaker and cared for many children in her home. She was known to many as “Momma John.”
She was a member of the Zion Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the Women’s Missionary Association and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Johnson; her son, Benjamin Johnson; two sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by three sons, Roy of Anguilla, William “Dodah” (Jacqui) of Las Vegas and David Ray (Dot) of Rolling Fork; four daughters, Ann Moore (Danny) of Crystal Springs, Linda Butler of Tupelo, Irene Different (Harold) of Florence and Evelyn Durst (Bill) of Rolling Fork; her sister, Claudia McCain (Fred) of Vicksburg; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral and burial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Zion Baptist Church in Anguilla. Visitation will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork from 5 until 7 tonight.
