Donnie E. Andrews died Saturday, April 2, 2011, at River Region Medical Center. He was 82.
Born in Vicksburg, he was the son of the late George Dean Andrews Jr. and Hattie Mayer Andrews. He was a graduate of Hollandale High School and the University of Southern Mississippi, graduating in 1958. Mr. Andrews served in the Army during the Korean War with the rank of sergeant.
He retired from the Soil Mobility Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Waterways Experiment Station, where he worked as a geologist for 30 years. Mr. Andrews was an ardent golfer at the Vicksburg Country Club and an avid fan of Mississippi State athletics.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Georgine Andrews LaHatte; and a brother, H. Dean Andrews Sr.
He is survived by a daughter, Betsy Baynes of Greenville, S.C.; two grandchildren, Ryland Baynes and Ashley Baynes; six nieces and nephews, Patsy Andrews Martin, H. Dean Andrews Jr., Ronnie Andrews, Nancy Andrews Mitchell, Cicero LaHatte III and Martha Lynne Manor; cousin, Ann Morris; great nieces, nephews and his devoted companion, Shirlye A. Stahl.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Anshe Chesed Cemetery with visitation at Riles Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Dean Walt Andrews, Lee Andrews, Blake Andrews, Sam Andrews, Mike Jackson and Mike Knapp.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Hannon, Dennis East, Richard Marcus, Phillip Jones, Deb Mitchell, Jan Jackson, Mary Edwards, Hinrich Lehnerer, Jim Thompson and Bobby Odom.
