Mr. Harris, Miss Bell exchange vows March 5

Freddie Douglas Harris Sr. and Deborah Lynne Bell were married at 3 p.m. March 5, 2011, at Greater Grove Street M.B. Church. Dr. Casey Fisher officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Gene A. Sr. and Patricia B. Bell of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Clarence Jr. and Francis Bell of Vicksburg and Bob and Dorothy Boyd of Meridian.

The groom is the son of Rosie Lee Jones and Carrie L. Thomas and the late Joseph Thomas of Mayersville. He is the grandson of the late Lorenzo Harris, Avonia Harris, Gene Thomas and Aushadora Thomas.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride’s chosen colors were clover green and tearose pink. Music was by Sean Chambers, C.J. Williams and Jannifer Banks, soloist.

Maids of honor were Naomi Smith and Eleanor Bell, sister of the bride, both of Vicksburg. Matrons of honor were Shonna Morton and Michele Fisher, both of Vicksburg.

Bridesmaids were Cynthia E. Bell, sister of the bride, and Amanda Bell, niece of the bride, both of Vicksburg; and Sharon Evans of Chicago. Junior bridesmaids were DeAndra Bell, daughter of the bride, and Keshon Sutton, both of Vicksburg.

Flower girls were Kaitlyn Banks and Tymyah Drayton, both of Vicksburg; and Danielle Bell, granddaughter of the bride, of Jackson.

The groom’s son, Terrell Stewart of Douglasville, Ga., served as best man. Groomsmen were Howard Jones and Willie James Burnside, brothers of the groom, and Frank Harris Jr., nephew of the groom, all of Mayersville; Jerry Britton of Memphis; Gene Bell Jr., brother of the bride, of Vicksburg; Daniel Bell, son of the bride, of Jackson; and Dominico Harris, son of the groom, of Denton, Texas.

Ushers were Tyler McDowell, nephew of the bride, and Channing Banks, both of Vicksburg; and Jeremy Ward of Newellton, La.

Ring bearer was Joshua Craig, nephew of the bride, of Vicksburg. Bible carrier was Vernon Maxwell III of Jackson.

Allen Morton of Vicksburg served as broom carrier.

Special wedding assistants were Cecilia Cole, Angela Turner, Jackie Bell-Ball and Robert Hubbard.

A reception followed at the Knights of Columbus. Hostesses were Brescha Parker, LaQuette Northern, Vonkeisha Truly, Annika Dunmore, Rae Evans and Alexandria Shaw.

For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico. They will make their home in Vicksburg.

The bride is a graduate of Vicksburg High School, where she was in the band. She received a degree in accounting from Jackson State University, where she was a member of the band and Tau Beta Sigma band fraternity. She has served as secretary of the Vicksburg Warren JSU Alumni Association and is a member services representative at Mutual Credit Union.

The groom attended high school in Mayersville and is a graduate of Alcorn State University. He is an engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Memphis District.

Parties

Gene Bell Sr., Terrell Stewart, Daniel Bell and Reginald Taylor honored the groom with a bachelor party.

The bride was honored with a bachelorette party hosted by Naomi Smith, Cynthia Bell, Eleanor Bell and Shonna Morton.

Loleela Taylor and Deborah Taylor hosted a miscellaneous shower for the bride.

The bride was honored with a shower hosted by Naomi Smith, Clara Bowman, Shirley Henry and Tracey Boyd.
