Wayne J. Sutter

Wayne J. Sutter died Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was 64.

Mr. Sutter was a native of Sawyer, N.D., where he attended school K-12. He graduated from Minot State University. He had lived in Vicksburg for the past 22 years.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Tammy D. Folger-Sutter; his brother, Ronald (Kate) Sutter of Washburn, N.D.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale and Arleen Folger of Thief River Falls, Minn.; his brother- and sister-in-law, Joel and Becky Folger of Grapevine, Texas; aunt, Esther Torvik of Monticello, Minn.; nieces, Sarah Sutter Fiest (Mark) and Jodi Sutter of Fargo, N.D., and Kayla and Amanda Folger of Grapevine; and nephews, Karl (Deanna) Sutter of Bismarck, N.D., and Brayden Folger of Grapevine.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Sutter; his mother, Florence Sutter; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He served in the U.S. Army. He lived and worked in numerous locations for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, retiring from the Engineer Research and Development Center as chief of the Resource Management Office.

He served as the executive secretary of the Miss Mississippi Corporation, where he was also a member of the Board of Directors and the Salute Page chairman.

He was a faithful Christian and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. He was currently a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Vicksburg, where he was a member of the Philios Sunday school class.

Wayne was a friend to all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of the service.
