Phyllis M. Jennings

Phyllis M. Jennings died Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at her residence. She was 70.

Born in Freeport, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Phillip Roland Oliver and Lillian Mae Hanscom Oliver. Mrs. Jennings was a graduate of North Yarmouth Academy in Yarmouth, Maine, and received her medical assistant’s degree from Jones College in Jacksonville, Fla.

She served in the Army, the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. A resident of Vicksburg since 1992, she had worked in the offices of Dr. George E. Abraham II and the Vicksburg Warren School District. Mrs. Jennings was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her husband, Harold E. Jennings of Vicksburg; three daughters, Janis Beach, Kelly Schweitzer and Erika Stepp; two sons, Kenneth Jennings and Christopher Jennings; three sisters, Hazel Soule, Linda Wilson and Toni Rees; two brothers, John Oliver and Phillip Oliver III; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and 57 foster children.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Chuck Parish and Pastor Kuhrman Cox officiating. Riles Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
