Yazoo Valley to restore Redwood power June 17

Yazoo Valley Electric Power Association will restore power to its customers in Redwood by June 17, a release from the Yazoo City-based utility said Thursday.
Water levels are still too high to energize the electric transmission system in the northeast Warren County community.
The current estimate is based on National Weather Service forecasts of river stages.
Customers are asked to conserve the use of electricity between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., when energy consumption is highest.
“We’re appealing to them to reduce usage as much as possible,” member services coordinator Rebecca Yeates said.
Conservation tips by the utility include running appliances in the morning, turning off unnecessary lighting and unplugging cell phone or electronic chargers.
The utility provides power to 10,378 customers in Warren, Yazoo, Sharkey and Issaquena counties.
Flood-related outages reached 801 meters during peak river stages, Yeates said.
