Vicksburg teen jailed on 3rd burglary charge

A Vicksburg teenager out on bond on two burglary charges was being held without bond in the Warren County Jail after his arrest Sunday in a house burglary on Lane Street, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Stewart said Jonathan Clark, 17, 1613 Lane St., is accused of breaking into a house in the same block at about 5 p.m. Sunday. Nothing was reported taken in the break-in. Stewart said Clark was arrested after witnesses who saw the break-in provided a description.

He said Clark had been arrested Jan. 31 and charged with the Jan. 13 burglary of a house in the 600 block of Holly Ridge Drive and the Jan. 31 burglary of a house in the 100 block of Grey Oaks Drive.

City holding man stopped by county

A traffic stop by Warren County sheriff’s deputies on Fisher Ferry Road resulted in the arrest of a Vicksburg man on a 2009 warrant from Vicksburg police charging him with uttering a forgery, police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Stewart said Lavator Williams, 37, 313 Pleasant Valley Drive, was being held in the Issaquena County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.

He said Williams is accused of cashing a forged $1,268 check at the Indiana Avenue branch of BancorpSouth.

He said deputies arrested Williams after a records check revealed the city warrant.

Bite leads to arrest of Vicksburg woman

A Vicksburg woman was charged Sunday with third offense domestic violence after her boyfriend was bitten on the shoulder during an argument.

Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said Lillie Carter, 27, 402 Locust St. Apt. 203, was released on $5,000 bond. He said Carter and her boyfriend argued after she accused him of speaking to another woman while they were on a date.

Electronics, guns hot in city thefts

Electronics totaling $1,930 and firearms were among the items reported stolen during a series of burglaries between Friday and early today, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

Stewart said a Pioneer CD player valued at $160 was reported stolen about 8:53 a.m. Friday from a 1991 Chevrolet pickup parked in the 3000 block of Indiana Avenue.

About three hours later, he said, a Garmin GPS valued at $150, an iPhone3 valued at $250 and $40 were reported stolen about 11:52 a.m. from a 2004 GMC Yukon parked in the 2300 block of Drummond Street.

Friday afternoon, Stewart said, a Remington .22-caliber magnum rifle valued at $240 and a Savage 7mm rifle valued at $350 were reported stolen about 1:11 p.m. from a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado pickup parked in the 1300 block of Chambers Street, and a 42-inch Emerson flat-screen valued at $535 was reported stolen about 5:05 p.m. from a home in the 3500 block of U.S. 61 South.

On Saturday, he said, a Samsung CD player valued at $175, two 12-inch Pioneer sub woofers valued at $150 and a Panisonic amplifier valued at $150 were reported stolen at 7:58 a.m. from a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu. Also on Saturday, a Sony PlayStation 3 valued at $300 and four games with a total value of $160 were reported stolen about 9:21 p.m. from a home in the 1100 block of Jefferson Street.

Stewart said a digital camera valued at $200 and $2 in change were reported stolen at 2:06 this morning from a 1995 Toyota Tacoma pickup parked in the 200 block of Mattingly Street.
