Stars dominate Mississippi Braves

The Mississippi Braves dropped the series opener with the Huntsville Stars, losing 12-0 on Wednesday at historic Joe Davis Stadium.
Huntsville starting pitcher Michael Fiers allowed a single and a walk in the first inning, but allowed one more base runner the rest of the way. He threw six innings, striking out nine, to earn his fourth victory. He retired 18 of the 22 batters he faced.
For the M-Braves (3-3, 28-48), Kenshin Kawakami allowed seven runs on six hits in two innings of work. It was his third loss of the year.
Huntsville (3-3, 40-36) scored five runs in the first frame, including a two-run home run from catcher Martin Maldonado, his third homer of the year. Maldonado finished the day with three hits, scoring three runs.
