Ulmer L. Applin Sr.

Ulmer L. “Bill” Applin Sr. died Thursday, July 14, 2011, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was 79.

Mr. Applin was born in Wayne County and had lived in Vicksburg since 1965. He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired boilermaker.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Whitney Selby; his parents; and brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, June S. Applin of Vicksburg; a son, Lee Applin Jr. of Carmel, Calif.; four daughters, Barbara Dale Reed of Montgomery, Ala., Rochelle Armstrong of Vaiden, Alesia Sullivan of Brandon and June Selby of Vicksburg; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Zion’s Rest Cemetery in Wayne County. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Monday until the service.
