The Mississippi Braves’ most recent winning streak ended at one.

Ryan Curry broke a 3-all tie with a two-run triple in the sixth inning, and the Jacksonville Suns beat the M-Braves 5-3 on Friday night.

Jacksonville (12-15) won for the second time in three games in the series and once again kept the M-Braves (13-15) from reaching .500 in the second half. Game four of the five-game series is tonight in Jacksonville at 6:05 p.m.

The teams went back-and-forth Friday night before Curry’s triple put the Suns ahead for good.

Willie Cabrera hit a two-run homer in the top of the first inning to stake the M-Braves to a 2-0 lead, but Jacksonville went in front with a run in the bottom half and two more in the third.

Mississippi scored again in the sixth when Mycal Jones led off with a triple and came across on Cabrera’s sacrifice fly to tie it at 3. In the bottom of the sixth, an error, base hit and sacrifice bunt put runners at second and third for Curry, who tripled to right field to give the Suns a 5-3 lead.

Curry finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored for Jacksonville, and Omar Poveda had nine strikeouts in a complete-game victory.
