Robert E. Steele Sr.

Robert E. Steele Sr. died Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospital in Alexandria, La. He was 80.
A native of Haleyville, Ala., Mr. Steele lived in both Vicksburg and Ball, La., for many years.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Esler Pentecostal Church in Pineville, La. He retired as lieutenant of security from the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant.
He was grand chancellor commander, State of Louisiana, for Knights of Pythias Webster Lodge No. 4. He graduated from Redwood High School in 1949. His passion was playing bass guitar in his church band, and he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by two sons, Bobby Steele and wife Cindy of Baytown, Texas, and Dennis Jay Steele and wife Linda Millet of Rossville, Ga.; one daughter, JiAnne Steele Williams and husband Grayson of Mexia, Texas; two brothers, James Abney and wife Carlis of Vicksburg and Terry Steele and wife Sharon of Hartselle, Ala.; two sisters, Faye Ledger and husband Gerald of Brookhaven and Patsy Bishop and husband Tommy of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Jason Steele, Devin Steele and Michael Graves; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Toney officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers will be Oscar Coodie, Michael Graves, Jerry Stroud, Wiley Pritchard, Russell Johnese, Randy Crist and Mark Long.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Esler Pentecostal Church and the Redwood High School Class of 1949.
