On the agenda
• Approved issuing up to $11 million in revenue bonds to finance International Paper’s construction of a solid wastewater treatment facility across from its mill on Mississippi 3.
The county would own the project until bonds mature in 30 years. Company officials have said the project is tied to upgrades to its paper-making equipment geared to make them more energy efficient.
• Approved invoices by County Engineer John McKee totaling $80,543.71, for various engineering services.
• Approved invoices by attorney Randy Sherard totaling $2,250 for legal services in August.
• Approved declaring two sheriff’s department cruisers surplus. One is to be donated to the resource officer for the Vicksburg Warren School District.
• Accepted for information two affidavits signed by principals of Riverland Plantation LLC and Browns Point Hunting Club Inc. Both were presented as part of efforts by hunting camps to avoid raising structures on areas in special flood hazard areas, officials said. Both landowning groups own hunting camps on Kings Point Island, the documents said. An Attorney General’s opinion issued in August sided with property owners.
