STARKVILLE — Charles E. Burkhardt died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at his home in Starkville. He was 57.

Mr. Burkhardt served as Forest and Facilities Management supervisor at Mississippi State University.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Burkhardt.

He is survived by his wife, Shelby Smith Burkhardt of Starkville; two daughters, Mary Katherine Burkhardt McNeel of Mantee and Jamie Burkhardt of Starkville; his father, E.C. Burkhardt of Vicksburg; two brothers, Richard Burkhardt of Columbus, Miss., and Mike Burkhardt of Columbus, Ga.; and two grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Dorman Lake Lodge in the John W. Starr Memorial Forest near Starkville. Welch Funeral Home in Starkville has charge of arrangements.
