A Vicksburg man who was free on bond for aggravated assault charges in April was back in the Warren County Jail Friday, being held without bond in a drive-by shooting into an occupied home and a car.
Eric M. Wallace, 30, 1415 Hayes St., was arrested on a warrant by Vicksburg police at 3 p.m. at the police station, Lt. Bobby Stewart said.
Wallace is accused of firing several shots from a single-cab Chevrolet truck into a Jackson Street home occupied by two people and at a vehicle parked in front of the house on Aug. 19, Stewart said.
Wallace was stopped for a traffic violation at Interstate 20 and Clay Street later that day, and he turned over a 40-caliber Smith & Wesson gun, Stewart said.
Forensic evidence found the gun had been used in the shooting earlier that day, Stewart said.
He was charged with drive-by shooting, shooting into an occupied dwelling, shooting into an unoccupied vehicle and two counts of aggravated assault, Stewart said.
He was expected to have an initial court appearance Monday.
Wallace had been arrested April 11 and charged with two counts of aggravated assault after two shots were fired from a vehicle at two pedestrians on Baldwin Ferry Road. He had been released on a $10,000 bond for those charges.
