Vicksburg Junior High is among six schools chosen to participate in an essay contest sponsored by Entergy Mississippi and Entergy Nuclear.

Students in seventh and eighth grades are being asked to write about the impact of the energy industry today and in the future, said Don Arnold an Entergy spokesman for Warren County and surrounding areas.

Other schools will be Madison Middle, Clinton Junior High, Port Gibson Middle, Whitten Middle in Jackson and Alexander Junior High in Brookhaven.

First- and second-place winners will be chosen from each school, Arnold said. An Apple iPod MP3 player will be awarded to each.

Most electricity customers in Warren County are served by Entergy. Vicksburg Junior High is part of the Vicksburg Warren School District, which enrolls about 8,500 students.
