St. Al wins big at South State

Wally Wibowo finished first in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle, and was part of two winning relay teams Saturday to lead St. Aloysius to a convincing victory at the Class 1A-4A South State swim meet in Laurel.

St. Al, which had seven first-place finishers, totaled 160 points. St. Andrew’s was a distant second with 104.

St. Al’s Morgan Stone won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.43, and teammate Andy Bell was second. Stone and Bell also were on the winning 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relays.

Winston Hayes and John Phillips were part of two winning relays, and Phillips won the 100-yard breastroke. Chris Luke was second in the 100 breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley.
