Martha Whitehead Smith

Martha Whitehead Smith died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at Promise Hospital of Vicksburg. She was 74.
Born in Mechanicsburg, Miss., she had been a resident of Warren County most of her life and was the daughter of the late George Marvin Whitehead and Doris O’Neal Irwin Whitehead. She was a graduate of Redwood High School.
Mrs. Smith was employed by Westinghouse for a number of years and later, with her husband, owned and operated Smith Grocery. She was a member of Bovina Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday school class.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Smith of Vicksburg; two daughters, Pam Smith and Karen Smith Craft, both of Vicksburg; and a sister, Bettye Tucker of Gulfport.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Mitchell Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the service.
Pallbearers will be Harrell Smith, Billy Smith, Jereme Smith, Charles Byrd, Bobby Smithhart Jr. and Roger Smithhart.
Honorary pallbearers will be L.B. VanLandingham, Otto Moore, Doug Traxler, Hubert and Hazel Stroud, Dr. Anita Tribble and members of the Ruth Sunday school class.
