Carroll marries Smith Oct. 1 at Jackson Street

John Wesley Carroll Sr. and Alice Mariah Smith were married at 2 p.m. Oct. 1, 2011, at Jackson Street Baptist Church. Pastor Larry Brown officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Terry Burks and the late Mattie Burks of Gulfport and the late Jessie Smith of Alabama. She is the granddaughter of the late Arthur and Alice Banks and the late Willie and Mariah Smith.
The groom is the son of Rosie Woodhouse Duckett of Vicksburg and the late John Daniel Carroll. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Winfield Woodhouse and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lenton Carroll.
The bride was given in marriage by her son, Tecardo “Teco” Hicks, and her grandson, Teyton Hicks. Her chosen colors were malibu, black and ivory with silver accents.
Bruce Johnson of Gulfport presented a program of nuptial music.
Matron of honor was Cassandra C. Floyd of Lithonia, Ga. Bridesmaid was Jodi B. Blakeney of Brandon.
Mark Price of Burbank, Calif., served as best man. Groomsman was Minister Michael Wesley of Vicksburg.
Ushers were Ray Fitzgerald Smith and Christopher Jermaine Smith, both of Mobile, Ala.
Flower girls were Kieristen Carroll of Vicksburg and Khamil Carroll and Ge’Nayah Carroll of Salem, Ore. Josiah Carroll of Salem served as ring bearer.
A reception followed at the Holiday Inn. Hostesses were Melissa Copelin, Darcy Cardwell, Sheena Gordon, Frances Griffith, Latoya McGloster, Tiffany Schattilly, Alice LaShay Smith and Jessica Whigham.
For a wedding trip, the couple traveled on a cruise to Freeport and Nassau, Bahamas. They will make their home in Jackson.
The bride is employed at Nash Family Dentistry, and the groom serves as pastor of Jackson Street Baptist Church and is employed with the City of Vicksburg.
