All season long, Warren Central has been a star-crossed team.

Friday night’s season finale at Viking Stadium against Jim Hill was just more of the same.

The Tigers (3-8, 2-5 Region 2-6A) got two tip-drill touchdown passes from quarterback Justin Tidwell, one to Jeremiah Simmons and the other to Frederick Brown, to pick up a 21-16 victory.

The Vikings (1-10, 1-6) never led in the contest, but had a chance late in the fourth quarter to pull out a win.

“It’s just one of those years, I can’t explain it,” WC coach Josh Morgan said. “The two touchdown passes they had, we tip both of them and they come down with it. We’ve got a lot of breaks along the way we didn’t play.”

Late in the fourth, Jim Hill aimed for the knockout blow. Tidwell, who was flushed out of the pocket, hit Brown for a 35-yard strike with 3:20 left that gave Jim Hill a commanding 21-9 advantage.
