A Vicksburg man was charged with felony eluding Thursday afternoon, a week after he led police on a car chase through downtown, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Tommy Lee Johnson, 42, 106 Enchanted Drive, was arrested at 4:19 p.m. Thursday at Bowmar Avenue and Yerger Street. Officers who saw Johnson standing on the corner recognized him as the driver of a vehicle police chased though First North, Jackson, Farmer and Jefferson streets on Jan. 26, Stewart said.

The chase began when an officer attempted to investigate why the vehicle was parked at night in the parking lot of the Department of Human Services office on Farmer Street.
