Elsie Tucker Hossley

Elsie Tucker Hossley, 92, died peacefully at her home on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, with members of her family at her side.
Mrs. Hossley, a descendent of several pioneer Vicksburg families and a lifelong Vicksburg resident, was the daughter of the late Henry T. and Katie Butler Tucker of Vicksburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl S. Hossley; a son, Harry B. Hossley; and a granddaughter, Catherine E. Hossley.
Mrs. Hossley was a 1937 graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy and had been an active businesswoman for many years. She was owner/operator of Teri-Cil Fashion Fair, manager of Saybrook Fabrics and an instructor for Vicksburg Public Schools and Hinds Junior College.
She had been an active parent, serving as a Cub Scout den mother, and was involved with parent organizations at St. Francis Xavier and St. Aloysius. She was member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She had also served as president of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Mrs. Hossley is survived by four sons, Daniel E. Hossley (Ann) of Hideaway, Texas, Albert T. Hossley Sr. (Lee) of Vicksburg, H. Fielding Hossley of Oviedo, Fla., and Michael H. Hossley (Kelly) of Madison. She is also survived by five daughters, Mary H. Brook (Clarence) of Columbus, Miss., Cecelia H. Riles (Charles) of Vicksburg, Catherine (Teri) H. Tandy of Houston, Texas, Elsie H. Wilson (Carroll King) of Edwards and Marguerite H. Wall (David) of Raymond. In addition, she is survived by 22 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Riles Funeral Home with visitation tonight, Feb. 14, from 5 until 7 with prayers at 6:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Paul Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, with Monsignor Patrick Farrell officiating. Visitation with family will be from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Hossley’s grandsons: D. Allen Hossley, John Paul Hossley, Albert T. Hossley Jr., Michael F. Hossley, Chad N. Patterson, J. Brett Hossley, Christopher L. Hossley, Adam B. Hossley, William H. Hossley and Edward E. Wall.
The family wishes to extend grateful appreciation to the nurses from Private Home Care and the staff at Patient’s Choice Hospice for their dedication and service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Vicksburg Catholic School.
