Wynona Dixon Hogue Blakeney

ROLLING FORK – Wynona Dixon Hogue Blakeney, age 89, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, surrounded by her family at her home in Rolling Fork after an extended illness.
Ms. Blakeney was born on March 14, 1922, in Yazoo County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork where she taught Sunday school for 60 years. She retired from Delta Elastic and Fred’s of Rolling Fork and also served as a volunteer at the Rolling Fork Welcome Center.
Ms. Blakeney was preceded in death by her parents, James and Hazel Dixon; husband, Lloyd Hogue; husband, Cecil Blakeney; sister, Marie Trammell; brothers, James Dixon and Thomas “Bud” Dixon; daughter, Grace Hogue; granddaughters, Melissa Jackson and Deirdre Jackson; and great-grandson, Kevin Nichols.
She is survived by daughters, Nona Henry (Tom) of Hot Springs, Ark., and Dot Jackson of Vicksburg; son, Douglas Hogue (Alexis) of Tyler, Texas; brother, Phillip Dixon (Louise) of Benton; sisters, Vivian Kramer of Madison and Shirley Netherland of Yazoo City; grandchildren, Vanessa Land, Alton Robertson Jr. (Amy), Denise Rowan, Dusty Jackson, David Jackson (Heather), Sylvia Martin (Jimmy), Blair Hogue (Holly) and Darin Hogue; 16 great-grandchildren, Bryan Land, Jason Land, Brooks Robertson, Breanna Robertson, Steven Heigle, Zach Rowan, Kiera Owens, Dana Jackson, Tanner Jackson, Harper Jackson, Nicholas Martin, Lacey Martin, Shelly Hocutt, Caden Hogue, Rylan Hogue and Kelsey Meridith; 11 great-great-grandchildren, Kayne Land, Kailey Land, Kavin Land, Zoe Robertson, Madison Heigle, Noah Jackson, Braydon Adams, Kory Owens, Kylie Bailey, Hunter Merritt and Brandon Merrit.
Services will be at 11 today, Feb. 18, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork with the Revs. Millard Caulder and Reese Kyzar officiating. Burial will follow at Rolling Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 9:30 until 10:45 at the church. Stricklin-King Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers include grandsons, Alton Robertson Jr., Dusty Jackson, David Jackson, Blair Hogue, Darin Hogue and Steven Heigle.
Memorials may be made to Nona Blakeney Memorial Scholarship Fund at Rolling Fork Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
