Ida M. Dixon

Ida M. Dixon died Saturday, March 3, 2012, at River Region Medical Center. She was 87.

Mrs. Dixon was a member of Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church for nearly 60 years where she was a mother. She retired from Mercy Hospital after many years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Dixon; three brothers, Lonnie Butler, Ollie Buck and Sam Burns; one sister, Mary Ella Smith; one daughter, Lucinda Burns; and one grandson, Terence N. Moore.

Survivors include her daughter, Helen M. Moore of Chicago; one brother, Curlie Whiten Sr. of Vicksburg; one granddaughter, VaTrice Moore of Chicago; three great-grandchildren, TaKhari Moore, Tariq Shareef and Terence McCoy, all of Chicago; a devoted nephew, Alfred Thomas (Carolyn); and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Reginald Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 7:30 p.m. Friday with the family being present from 6:30 until 7:30 at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
