“Poetry,” a screenplay by Lee Chang-dong, and awarded the best screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival is planned for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Strand Theatre, 717 Clay St.
The movie, which takes place in Korea, centers on an elderly woman struggling with Alzheimer’s who finds solace in attending poetry class.
Admission is $5 in advance and $6 the night of the show. Tickets may be purchased at the theater, Highway 61 Coffee Shop or by calling 601-636-8313. Concessions and a cash bar will be available.
“Poetry” is the first movie in more than 48 years to be shown at the theater, which opened last year as a stage for the Westside Theatre Foundation.
