Millsaps College archaeologist Dr. George Bey and Millsaps students will be featured in a National Geographic documentary, “Quest for the Lost Maya,” at 9 p.m. Wednesday on Mississippi Public Broadcasting.

Millsaps public relations coordinator Kara Paulk said Bey and the students were filmed working during the summer of 2011 at the college’s Kaxil Kiuic Biological Reserve in Yucatan, Mexico, a 4,500-acre tropical forest biocultural reserve in the heart of the Yucatán.

She said National Geographic became interested in Bey’s work after an August 2010 USA Today article and his research on why the ancient Mayans left their home in Kiuic.
