Dr. Elizabeth Swinford, superintendent of the Vicksburg Warren School District, thumbs through one of the 1,507 books donated to the school district by the Anita Tarnabine Literacy Foundation Wednesday while district maintenance workers Aries Smith, middle, and Clark Turpin cart books away. The foundation worked with local businesses and organizations to gather the books that will be distributed from pre-kindergarten to high school levels at public and private schools, Swinford said.
