Claudette Haggard announces the engagement of her daughter, Amanda Denise of Vicksburg, to Benjamin Battle II of Memphis. Mr. Battle is the son of the Rev. Benjamin and Eddie Mae Battle of St. Joseph, La.

Ms. Haggard is also the daughter of the late Charlie Lee Haggard Sr. She is the granddaughter of the late Nick and Geraldine Williams and the late Tommie and Mary Haggard.

Mr. Battle is the grandson of the late Idella and Thomas Cornelius Ewell Sr. and the late Susie and Johnny Battle Sr.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Warren Central High School, where she was a member of FBLA, DECA and FTA. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in management from Belhaven University.

Ms. Haggard is a registration supervisor at the Warren County Tax Collector’s Office.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Davidson High School, where he was a member of Beta Honor Society and 4-H. He served as class and student body president, school statistician and class historian.

He received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Northeast Louisiana University and a master’s degree in educational technology from Strayer University.

Mr. Battle is a technology coordinator with Memphis City Schools.

Vows will be exchanged at 3 p.m. June 16, 2012, at St. Mary’s Baltes Gym. A reception will follow. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.
