Warren Central soccer tryouts

Tryouts for Warren Central’s girls soccer team will be held Monday and Tuesday, beginning at 2:45 p.m. each day at the school’s practice field along Mississippi 27.

Tryouts for the boys team will be May 14 and 15, also at the practice field.

Players must have a current physical, parental consent form and wear shin guards. The tryouts are for players entering grades 7-12, or who will attend Warren Central High School or Warren Junior in the 2012-13 school year. Vicksburg City Pool swimming lessons

The Vicksburg City Pool will host Red Cross “Learn to Swim” lesson registration from May 16-19 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the city pool. Multiple level, adult and preschool classes for ages 3-4 will be offered. Children must be age 5 or up to participate in the levels classes. The cost is $12 per student per two-week class. Sessions will be held June 4-15, June 25-July 6 and July 16-27. Times for classes are 10 until 10:45 a.m., 11- 11:45 a.m. and 5:45 until 6:30 p.m. For information, call the city pool at 601-634-4516.

St. Al ‘A’ Club golf tournament

The St Aloysius ‘A’ Club golf tournament is scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. at Clear Creek Golf Course. For information, call 601-636-2256. The tournament is a four-man scramble and the cost is $100 per person. Hole sponsorships are available for $100. Lunch will be served before play starts and prizes and door prizes will be awarded.

Kathy Hester junior golf program

Registration is open for Kathy Hester’s spring and summer junior golf programs. The program includes instructional classes, golf camps and tournaments throughout the summer.

Classes for boys are offered at 4 p.m. each Wednesday, and girls classes are at 4 p.m. each Friday. The classes cost $10. The camps are scheduled for June 5-8 at The Golf Center at the Vicksburg Outlet Mall, June 12-15 at Meadow Oak Golf Club, and June 19-22 at The Links of Madison. The fee for each camp is $80. The tournaments will be played once a week at various courses in central Mississippi and cost $25 to enter. Soccer camp at Hinds CC

Hinds Community College will host its annual summer soccer camp June 4-8 at the school’s soccer complext in Raymond.

The camp is for boys and girls ages 7-14, and will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. The cost of the camp is $130 if registration is received before May 15, and $150 after that date.
