Vicksburg has received a $118,521 Federal Aviation Administration grant to install taxiway lights at the Vicksburg Municipal Airport, U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson said.
“This will improve safety at the airport,” airport administrator Curt Follmer said. “Right now, only the apron of the taxiway near the terminal is lighted, so it’s pretty rough at night. This will allow us to put lights along the length of the taxiway and light up the south runway, and install signs on the taxiway, which we don’t have now.”
He said the city applied for the grant in April and he expected the project to be advertised for bids possibly at the board’s Monday or Friday meeting.
The airport is on U.S. 61 South.
