Tara Wildlife’s annual birding weekend has evolved over the years.
This year, outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy a variety of activities Friday through Sunday during the event now known as The Mississippi River Nature Weekend.
Mark Bowen is the marketing director for Tara, a 9,000 acre nature preserve in the Eagle Lake community. He said the main attraction is still what was once known as “The Stork and Cork,” where participants ride in an open air bus and watch hundreds of migratory birds, all while enjoying a glass of wine.
“Two old school buses with the tops cut off, are used,” Bowen said.
Tara president Gilbert Rose said not only is Tara’s vast acreage of oxbow lakes and forests a haven for wading birds, but it is one the nation’s prime locations for deer and turkey hunting, too.
