Mason’s kicks snaps WC skid

JACKSON — Two missed kicks lingered over Michael Mason like the rain that fell throughout the evening Friday.
One short field goal and one massive dogpile later, they — and Warren Central’s six-game losing streak — were reduced to nothing more than bad memories.
Mason booted a 23-yard field goal in overtime to give Warren Central a 23-20 win over Callaway. It was sweet redemption for Mason, who missed a short field goal and an extra point earlier in the game that could have won it in regulation.
“It’s a crazy feeling. It’s fun,” Mason said of his winning kick.
After Mason’s kick sailed through the uprights, he was mobbed by his teammates in a celebration 11 months in the making. It was WC’s first win since beating Greenville-Weston on Sept. 30, 2011.
