Michael David Strickland and Laura Beth Lyons were married at 6:30 p.m. June 30, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Vicksburg. Dr. George M. Hammitt and Dr. Matthew Buckles officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Allen Lyons Sr. of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shearwood Lyons Sr., John Willie Bowen Jr. and the late Marilyn Rayl Bowen.

The groom is the son of Martha Debra May Strickland of Vicksburg and Howard Michael Strickland. He is the grandson of Martha Ann Johnston May Klaus of Vicksburg and the late David Lanier May of Vicksburg.

A program of nuptial music was presented by Julia Blake, organist, and Carrie Neill, pianist.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Matron of honor was Shannon Lyons Crosby, sister-in-law of the bride, of Vicksburg. Maid of honor was Ashley Rayl Swan, cousin of the bride, of Monroe, La. Bridesmaids were Katrina Michelle Shirley of Vicksburg; Kori Lane Strickland and Samantha Joy Ann Strickland, sisters of the groom, and Emily Bowen Rut, cousin of the bride, all of Madison; Leslie Ann Waring, cousin of the bride, of Oxford; Megan Elizabeth Easterling of Jackson; Nikki Totoro Herring of Olive Branch; Leslie Dyess May of Pearl; and Ashley Nicole Vinzant of Hattiesburg.

Honorary bridesmaids were Jennifer Ann Bowen, cousin of the bride, and Rebecca Ruth Flanagan, both of Vicksburg; Natalie Lyons Waring, cousin of the bride, of Starkville; Lacey Shea Hall of Grenada; Kathryn Tate Shirley of Oxford; and Josephine Annie Hood of New Orleans.

Gerald Starr Williams served as best man. Groomsmen were Joseph Allen Lyons Jr., brother of the bride, Phillip Edward Coutch, Ryan Christopher Grey, Stephen Michael Kavanaugh, Charles Herman Koestler, John Thomas Theobald and Richard Hunt Theobald, all of Vicksburg; Byron Edward Flowers of Jackson; Aaron Jacob George of Clinton; and Joel Earnest Greer of Raymond. Honorary groomsmen were William Christopher Barber of Oxford; Joshua Devin Cooper and Jeffery Clinton Cooper, both of Forest; Adam Clayton McCurdy of Morton; and John Gregory Rackley of Pelham, Ala.

Flower girls were Presley Catherine Pickens of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., Gracie Lynn Williamson of Vicksburg and Bowen Rachel Winans of Madison, all cousins of the bride.

Ring bearers were Elan Wade Lyons and Allen Lum Slade Lyons, both of Vicksburg; and Jackson Elliott Winans of Madison, all cousins of the bride.

Program attendants were Jordan Bell Amborn of Vicksburg and Laura Virginia Huds-peth of Birmingham, Ala.

Allison Hearn Smith of Hattiesburg served as the bride’s proxy.

Special wedding assistant was Erin Loper Hern.

A reception followed at the Rainbow Hotel Casino’s Arena Room. Guests were entertained with music by The Steven Padilla Band from Birmingham.

For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to Oahu, Hawaii. They will make their home at Eagle Lake.

Bridesmaids’ brunch

A bridesmaids’ brunch was held at Anchuca the morning of the wedding for the bride and her attendants. Hostesses were the bride’s aunts: Joan Bowen, Kathy Bowen, Christine Hales, Melissa Lyons, Kayla Lyons, Merry Swan, Belynda Waring and Vickie Williamson.

Groomsmen’s lunch

Jane Flowers, John and Debi George, Randy and Gareth Gilliland, Ken and Diane Klaus, Marsha Klaus, Meta Klaus, Rosalie Theobald and Beattie Williams honored the groom with a lunch at The Nogales House on the day of the wedding.

Rehearsal dinner

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s mother hosted a rehearsal dinner at Roca Restaurant.

Bachelorette weekend

Ashley Swan and Shannon Lyons hosted a bachelorette weekend and lingerie shower for the bride at Orange Beach.

Bachelor weekend

Starr Williams and the groomsmen honored the groom with a bachelor weekend in Las Vegas.
