Hinds opens season with win over Delta

Hinds Community College rolled up 333 rushing yards on 62 attempts Saturday, and wore down Mississippi Delta to win its season opener 42-21.Jabari Baker had 22 carries for 121 yards and one touchdown to lead Hinds, while fellow sophomore running back Darryan Ragsdale had 21 carries for 113 yards and a score.Gregory Foster and Christopher Nelson also ran for touchdowns for the Eagles, who led 18-13 at halftime but pulled away in the second half.Nelson capped a 13-play, 83-yard drive — all runs — with a 9-yard touchdown to put Hinds ahead 25-13 with 4:15 left in the third quarter. Ragsdale added a 12-yard touchdown run with 9:35 left in the fourth, and Foster scored from 3 yards out with just over three minutes remaining in the game.Hinds will now have a quick turnaround, as it hosts Coahoma Community College Thursday night at 6:30 on the Raymond campus.
