A former bail bonding agent accused of stealing bond fees surrendered Thursday.
Martha Thomas, 52, 2127 Military Ave., surrendered at 1:10 p.m. at police headquarters and was charged with embezzlement, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.
Thomas is accused of taking $1,525 in bonding fees from Bail One bail bonds company, Stewart said. The discrepancy was discovered after Thomas was fired from the company, and Thomas was not involved in a bail bonds scandal that caused two officers to resign earlier this year, Stewart said.
Thomas posted a $1,000 bail and was released from the Warren County Jail.
