The Public Employees’ Retirement System of Mississippi will mail ballots on Sept. 11 to eligible voters for a run-off election to determine the new PERS Board of Trustees state employee representative.

The candidates are: Mississippi State Board of Public Accountancy Executive Director Susan M. Harris of Brandon, and deputy director of the Madison, Department of Rehabilitation Services Chris M. Howard of Madison.

Votes must be cast by mail, phone, or online by Oct. 11 at 5 p.m.

The election schedule and a sample ballot will be available on the PERS website, www.pers.state.ms.us, after Sept. 11.

The 10-member board includes the state treasurer, a gubernatorial appointee who is a member of PERS, two PERS retirees, two state employees, and one representative each of public schools, community colleges, Institutions of Higher learning, counties, and municipalities. Elected board members serve staggered six-year terms.
