Warren County residents with verifiable property losses or other types of losses from Hurricane Isaac may apply for benefits, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Warren has been added to the list of counties where individuals and families were eligible to register for benefits. Hancock, Harrison, Jackson and Pearl River were designated for individual assistance within days of the storm’s landfall in south Louisiana on Aug. 29. Other counties added were Adams, Amite, Clarke, Forrest, George, Hinds, Lincoln, Marion, Pike, Stone, Walthall and Wilkinson.

Homeowners and renters may register for federal assistance that might help pay for damages that FEMA said can include:

• Temporary housing

• Home repairs

• Other serious disaster-related expenses not met by insurance or other aid programs

• Low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration that may cover residential and business losses not fully compensated by insurance.

Those in counties designated over the weekend who have registered for federal storm aid don’t need to do so again, according to a news release from FEMA. The agency encouraged anyone with questions to contact it at 1-800-621-3362. A call center is available to field questions on post-Isaac assistance between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.
