Achievements
• Scott Johnston of Vicksburg has been elected a freshman senator for the Mississippi State University Student Government Association. He is a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. A 2012 graduate of St. Aloysius High School, he is the son of Dinnie Johnston and the late Sydney Johnston.
• Warren Central High School has added combination oven steamers to its cafeteria using funds from the Nutrition Integrity 2012 grant the school received in May. The ovens replace deep-fat fryers, meaning fewer calories and fat grams and more nutritious meals for students. The school will be assessed by the School Health Council as part of the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, allowing for changes needed to improve its health environment.

• Katie Martin and Katelyn Brock, both of Vicksburg, attended the Lott Leadership Institute leadership program at the University of Mississippi. The session is designed to develop critical thinking skills in incoming high school freshmen.
