The new Vicksburg High fieldhouse under construction could be used as an apt analogy to describe the current state of the Gators’ football team.

The concrete foundation has been set and, last week, support beams went up. Last week at Tylertown, Tavares Johnson Jr. threw for 146 yards and three touchdown passes to three different receivers to lead Vicksburg’s improving offense, which racked up a season-high 266 yards and 28 points.

The performance was enough to put a smile on Vicksburg coach Tavares Johnson’s face.
